MACEDONIA -- Macedonia police inadvertently stopped the wrong vehicle with tire-flattening spike sticks March 7 around midnight after being called by the Stow Police Department for an assist during a pursuit of an alleged stolen vehicle northbound on Route 8.

According to the report, Stow police asked Macedonia to attempt to stop the vehicle and Macedonia police deployed spike sticks on I-271 at the Route 8 merge, one at the Route 82 turn and one on Route 8 south of Highland Road.

Officers say they were advised the suspected stolen vehicle was traveling in the center lane when they deployed the stop sticks.

The report states that instead of the suspect vehicle, a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old Warren woman struck the stop sticks, which flattened both of her vehicle's left-side tires.

Meanwhile, the drove drove around the road block and escaped.
