For the first time in 12 years, Summit Metro Parks will increase rental fees for its open-air shelters and enclosed lodges.
Effective this month new pricing will be applied to reservations for 2018 dates. Current rates will be held for any reservation made for available 2017 dates.
The new rates reflect an approximate 20 percent increase for both in-county and out-of-county residents. In-county residents pay a lower fee than out-of-county residents since the park district is supported by a Summit County real-estate tax. The existing and new 2018 fees are listed on summitmetroparks.org.
“Patrons will still enjoy some of the most affordable rental rates in the county, for buildings in a beautiful setting,” said Shannon Hasenstab, the park district’s chief of customer service. “Our fees have not increased since 2005, and since that time we’ve experienced increased building and utility costs,” Hasenstab added.
In 2016, a total of 1,445 reservations were made, and over 86,000 people enjoyed events during these private rentals.
