In 2016, Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland counties helped 9,189 individuals through a number of services that offer assistance to people struggling to find employment, including: career exploration and advising; resume and interview preparation; skill identification; work experience opportunities; skills training, as well as job coaching, development and placement.
The agency even provides support to local businesses in terms of recruiting, applicant screening and skill assessments. These services are possible through the generous donations of treasures received from nearly 460,000 donors and 960,000 Goodwill shoppers that support the mission to help individuals prepare for, find and retain employment.
The agency will formally present 2016 service numbers at its Annual Meeting and Celebration of Champions event March 23 at Jilly's Music Room, 111 N. Main St., Akron.
Networking begins at 5 p.m. followed by a program at 6. Tickets are $30 apiece.
