Anthony Perrine left no doubt about it.

The Nordonia senior pinned his way to the Division I state title at 195 pounds March 11 at Value City Arena in Columbus, breaking an 18-year title drought for the Knights.

Perrine wrestled Lakewood St. Edward's Dakota Howard in the final in a match he admitted was "nuts."

Perrine opened by getting a pair of takedowns in the first period, but gave up a takedown himself before escaping.

Leading 5-4 after one period, Perrine started on top in the second period and gave up an escape, but scrambled his way to a takedown.

Perrine then caught Howard in a reverse cradle for about 15 seconds before scoring the pin in 2:33.

Perrine leapt in the stands and into the arms of his father Paul after the match. He finished the season at 31-3.

Perrine became Nordonia's 14th state champion in school history and first since Ryan Lange in 1999.
